Khammam: Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswar Rao said that Khammam district would top the State in the road network if the ongoing road construction works are completed.

Laying the foundation stone for Rs 5.4 crore four-lane road construction works between Warangal Cross Road junction and Khammam on Wednesday the Minister said that a whopping Rs 25,000 crore would be spent in the next three years for improving road network in the State. 

Efforts are on to make the district a role model in the construction of roads he said pointing out to the ongoing projects 100-km Vijayawada-Jagdalpur highway at an estimated cost of Rs 456 crore and 181-km Bhoopalpally road. 

This apart, the Central government announced to develop Suryapeta-Khammam-Aswaraopet, Khammam-Warangal and Sarapaka-Etur, Nagaram-Koutala (Adilabad) as highways, the Minister said. 

Tummala also laid foundation stone for the construction of CC roads in Pedda tanda under Khammam rural mandal. Later, the Minister consoled the family members of TRS activist Sangu Sathaiah who died in a clash on June 2.

Zilla Parishad chairperson G Kavitha, Mayor Dr G Papalal, DCCB chairman Muvva Vijay Babu and TRS district president Beig were present.
